I've been checking each day this week to see if he put the Foie dogs on the menu before he left for vacation.
I don't think he had them on in at least a couple of weeks.
So unless the fuzz got real lucky, that means some rat (who's ironically into goose-stepping) was probaby checking his site, just waiting for the opportunity to report him.

Hmmm.... I wonder what rat liver tastes like?

What I find offensive is the use of dishonest propaganda and emotional manipulation to abuse the force of government and subvert both democracy and personal liberty.

Pointing out those factual realities by the use of a phrase historically tied to those same behaviors is hardly hyperbole, and its incidental semantic connection is kinda funny.

According to Chicagoist, Hot Dougs will be closed, beginning Monday, until March 5. I'm not sure if this is related to the fine- is it?

Thought all might find this interesting -- I am in Ottawa, ON and this made the Canadian national news this morning.

FYI - While I understand the sentiments, you will be wasting your vote unless Doug is a declared write-in. I am election judge, the only write-ins we observe is when they are listed as official write-in candidates. How they accomplish this, I don't know.

I don't think the sentament comes for the fact that the fine will have a large impact on Doug or the resturant, but rather it is a show of solidarity against an issue that many here feel fairly strongly about. Also, there have been hints that Doug may want to challenge the fine and may incur some legal fees and folks just want to help in the fight any way they can. Besides, long lines or not, if you ask any resturant owner why they do what they do I'm sure getting rich will be pretty far down on the list and the chances of doing so with a single location with no liquor licence are slim to none.

I'm going to be giving Doug a $20.00 "tip" come Martch 6th

When I first read about the roundtable idea, the notion of politics playing a part never entered my mind—why would it when this is a forum about food? But now that we have politicians telling us what food we can and cannot eat, I say we use the roundtable to fight back. What a perfect person Doug was to make the stand against this ridiculous ordinance; a person that we almost collectively admire both as a person and as a restaurateur. I say we take his lead and help him with this fight. We may not have much time before the election, but we can help him fight when he goes to court.

I certainly hope not. I would be disinclined to continue posting on this forum if it became in any way a political advocate, collector of political donations, or otherwise anything other than a free place for discourse on food by freely participating, nonpartisan individual posters. If LTH adopted a political party line that included collecting donations for a political purpose (and that in my mind includes a defense fund for Doug Sohn or anyone else), then I would have to seriously reconsider my continued participation in this forum.

Doug should serve sausage with kitty liver (not kitty litter, which many competitors put in theirs).

LTHForum is non-political and the Roundtable is not the political arm of LTHForum.

I would agree that LTH is not the place for politics. I don't object to a passing reference or link to something political, but anything formal should be done independently.

BTW, the current TOC has a burger feature; Sweets and Savories takes #1 in the Dressed Up category, with this bit:

I never intended to turn anything into a political/religious debate or discussion, and not sure how my comments skewed people to believe I was. I certainly wouldn't ever think LTH is a forum to discuss such things.

And the BBQ comment was a joke; you know best way to start a an argument is to discuss politics/religion/bbq...
