    Hi all!

I've been obsessed with baking bread after I successfully baked my first loaf (cheddar jalapeno bread, as featured in March's Gourmet magazine). This brings me to my rising ambition of making shokupan, the Japanese-style bread that's oh-so pillowy, chewy and delicious. I've googled for shokupan recipes, to no avail. Does anyone here have a good shokupan recipe or link? Thanks! :D

A quick Google search turned up some interesting things, including three recipes in the first item alone. There's also an interesting discussion on eGullet (I think it's on the second page).

    Good luck!

I love the "powerful powder" ingredient mentioned in your link. Hilarious mistranslation of "High Gluten Flour".

There are a number of japanese-language websites with good shokupan recipes. Problem is, there are no instructions. Novice bakers may be challenged to get the bread looking as beautiful as the bloggers' turn out.

Here's one of my new favorite Japanese-language food blogs, Kitchentime:

there's some downright sexy bread photos there.
