Just wanted to hear some opinions on it.

Post #2 - February 25th, 2007, 7:22 pmIf you search the words "Jerry's" and "Madison" and hit the buttons for "Search for all terms" and "Posts" you'll get a number of hits scattered around various threads. Most of the comments on Jerry's have been, I believe, quite favourable.

Post #4 - February 26th, 2007, 10:15 amJerry's is *excellent* -- so much to choose from that its almost crippling! You also get a choice of salad with your sandwich and the sandwiches are absolutely huge. My husband is a big eater and we split a sandwich and were satisfied. My only advice is to not attempt to eat these sandwiches while driving, or even in a parked car for that - what a mess!!!

Post #6 - February 26th, 2007, 10:30 amWe occasionally get a Jerry's order together for lunch at work, and the sandwiches are universally loved. I found the array of options on the website overwhelming at first, but I've been picking through and haven't found a miss yet. Check out the daily specials, too - I tried the mullagatawny soup that was offered one day and found it to be very tasty.

Post #7 - February 26th, 2007, 1:57 pmMy only complaint about Jerry's -- and it's certainly no fault of theirs -- is that some of the sandwiches don't travel very well. Other than that, I've always been very happy with Jerry's.

Post #8 - February 26th, 2007, 2:26 pmMy feeling is that the stuff that Jerry's makes themselves is very good, but everything else is average or worse. Bad bacon, mediocre bread, etc. But the meats and sauces and such are all great.

Post #9 - February 27th, 2007, 2:10 pmI thought their bread was pretty impressive. It's higher quality than most of the sandwhich shops around, isn't it? It tastes good, is fresh, and there are about ten different kinds to choose from.

As Ed mentions above, the homemade specials are definitely the cream of the crop, but I don't quite share his dire assessment of the rest. In particular, I'm a fan of the roasted (not smoked) salmon and any marinated steak. But it's all good, and tough to go wrong. A few personal faves off the regular menu... it's worth noting that I've been here a good 30-40 times and still barely scratched the surface:
Miles S - Turkey, Cranberry Sauce, Fresh Mozzarella, Basil
Andy Z - Steak, avocado, peppers, cheddar, southwest mayo
Diego A - Steak, avocado, cilantro, cheddar, chipotle chutney, adobo sauce
Jorma K - Prosciutto, fried eggplant, basil, lemon mayo
Uriah H - Roast salmon, avocado, cheddar, chipotle chutney

“Homemade” Southwest Mayo: Not sure what makes it southwest aside from the reddish color but I think I like the subtle heat along with the traditional mayonnaise sandwich benefits.

Seriously, I’m sure you can do better with your own selections. I was intimidated by the staggering array of choices. I just winged it in terror that I would leave with woe and regret over my hasty haphazard decisions. I think it would be a challenge to create a bad sandwich here. I’ll leave that up to you.
