There are so many places to get a burger in New York City, I wouldn't know where to begin.

What are some of the best burgers in Manhattan? Money is no object, but if it is a $50 burger, it had better be good!

I concur with Adam from AHamburgerToday that the original PJ Clarke's in Midtown makes a burger that's hard to beat. Much better than the overrated Burger Joint, nearby.

If you're serious about that $50 limit, you could always give the DB Burger a shot...

Not so much a burger as an exercise in decadence disguised as a burger, but I've heard good things :-)

I am a big fan of the Shake Shack, in Madison Square Park. Very tasy burgers. Fries are ok too. I haven't done a definitive taste of NYC burgers, but I was quite impressed. Reminded me of In N Out burger from the west coast.

    Best,

I always found Island Burgers and Shakes on 9th Avenue at 51st to be one of the best and most underrated burgers I ate when I lived in in New York. Their bleu cheese bacon burger on toasted ciabatta is one hell of a good burger

The NY Yelp Crowd seems to like it, too:

My favorite by far is Corner Bistro in the West Village....very cheap, very very juicy and thick...great old school tavern setting....

Beware going after 5 pm, as it gets mobbed early

The Corner Bistro sounds familiar. I may have been there at some point (though I haven't had a burger there).

I did like the burgers at Nick's on the Upper West Side, but lately I haven't had a chance to grab a burger anywhere in the city on my trips there. If I go in March, I'll definitely try to hit one of the places mentioned here. Thanks!

New York Magazine just weighed in on this topic, FWIW:

Shake Shack and P.J. Clarke's received mention. Of course, so did White Castle.
