Baden-Baden Germany is on the French/Germany border... a great town to visit and relax in for a day or two .. The highlights are the roman baths.. which leaves not a whole lot else to do but eat, chill out, and gamble...
La Provence
Baden-Baden
we started out at La Provence with Fish Soup, served with gruyere, toasted bread slices, and spicy mayo:
...I think I could eat this for days. We accompanied our meal with a '96 Veuve Cliquot Rose (a slight splurge maybe, but we had just won $1000 at the casino...).
...and on to the main courses:
Rack of lamb encrusted in pureed Herbs de Provence with a side of gratin potatoes:
..and for me, breasts of guinea fowl with a side of... hmm, not sure what it was.. tiny ball shaped carrots and tomatoes and other veggies:
... very delicious, perfectly cooked, well seasoned, makes me happy
...to finish, we chose the creme brulee, which I must say was not the highlight of the meal. it was slightly overcooked and eggy.
...all in all, the best meal we had in our trip to Germany and Austria. And French, go figure.
