    LTH,

Mike Sula (m'th'su) has a terrific article, Diversify your Larder, in this weeks Chicago Reader. He features Korean, Polish, Middle Eastern, Brazilian and Indian/Pakistani, with recipes from Chicago resturants and where to source ingredients.

Also in the Chicago Reader Food Issue are feature articles about running an organic restaurant (Pie in the Sky), Organic home delivery (A Greener Peapod) and a guide to subscription farms (Eat Local)

    Enjoy,
    Gary

Agreed. This is an especially rich and useful edition.

Tremendous article. Nice balance of history and detailed info, with the recipes making it relevant beyond the local and temporal context. Looks like the makings of a book that I'd buy.

PS, add some of the photographic talents here, and you've got one of those vicarious food tourism books that I spend too much on already. Just make sure it's ready to go in time for the Olympics.

A book that is somewhat similar in topic and scope is somtimes-poster Marilyn Pocius' A Cooks' Guide to Chicago.
