Sea "C" Food

OK, here's another PTA Mom dilemma: for Sparky's school's "Sea Animal Night" we're supposed to bring a potluck "C" food.

Since not all kids are as adventurous as Sparky, I need something kid-friendly. My original idea was Chicken Cacciatore; it's easy and pretty kid-friendly. However, it doesn't really match the theme of the event. I looked up "C" in the Epicurious food dictionary - came up with "Cephalapod" which we think are great (at least squid and octopus are; I've never eaten a chambered nautilus) but again, not too kid-friendly. I thought about cod cakes, but they don't strike me as something that will travel well.

Any ideas for something both "sea" and "c" related that sounds good for a kid's potluck? I'm sure the answer is staring me in the face....

Ceviche?

What about some variation on shrimp cocktail? You could call it crustacean cocktail.

Ceviche de Camarones?

Camarones is shrimp in Spanish

Batter fried clams are always a treat

Conch Fritters (conch meat available at H-Mart) are one of my fondest memories from visiting the granparents in Florida

Calamari with sliced banana peppers is very Connecticutian

crab cakes, salad or rangoon?

I think we're going to go with clam chowder; it can go in the crock-pot, I think kids will eat it, and clams are cheap at H-Mart - though, Ramon, I think cheesey goldfish wins the prize as the food that most fits all the criterion!

Sorry if it's a day late and dollar short, but how about something with tuna aka "Chicken of the sea. Maybe tuna casserole?

You know, I was thinking that - I think casserole would have been sufficient...and, beyond brand names, tuna has to start with a c in some language!

BTW, all, I didn't get photos, but the clam chowder with goldfish went over very well; (at least with the adults) I made at least 6 quarts and took home none. Thanks again, everyone, for your suggestions.

It did, however, look quite odd set against a sea of carrots, celery, cookies, cake, cheese doodles, cheese dip and cheese and crackers - but that's just the price I pay for being too serious about food...
