So, I apologize for being so selfish, but we will be moving to a new condo near in Logan Square near Armitage/Kedzie (one block west of Kedzie and 1/2 block south of Armitage), and I am curious as to our food choices.

Now, I can search and find the sit down places so that isn't a problem at all, it is more the places that will come to me. Frankly I have never lived this far west, and California seems to be a cutoff for many of the delivery places I have been frequenting the past 5-6 years.

It is a crushing blow not to have Oggi Trattoria for pasta, Bacci for a quick and cheap pizza when we can't think of anything else, and My Pie for their crushed tomato topped deep dish.

I believe Friendship will still be in my delivery area, but what will replace Luc Thang when we want some cheap thai noodles and a decent menu variety?

Any of you live in that area have any places that have become favorites?

The Streetside is just around the corner from us so that seems like a good replacement for the Black Beetle which is just around the corner from my current place. Any opinions on it? Been in there for a few beers and the food looked good enough.

Thanks and again I apologize for such a self-centered question. If there are any similar threads please point me out to them.

    Jamie

The Black Beetle and Streetside are actually owned by the same people, so they're probably fairly similar as far as pricing/quality of food.

I second grubhub as a good source for delivery info, it's been a lifesaver for me on those nights when I didn't want to go out or cook for myself.

I made the same move as you did about a year ago--west Ukrainian Village to Humboldt Park/Logan Square. Welcome to the neighborhood!

You'll be closer than ever to GNR winner Cemitas Puebla, formerly Taqueria Puebla. Treat yourself to one of the finest sandwiches in town. And make sure to try the tacos arabes as well.

You'll be right next to CHarley Thai (on armitage), which is a decent little Ameri-Thai joint. BYOB if you eat-in. We order from them fairly often. Most of the Wicker Park/Bucktown Thai joints will still deliver to you.

    Other great delivery options:

Guy's Pizza (one of my favorite pizza joints in Chicago)
    3948 W North
    Chicago
    773-772-1535
    www.guyspizzeria.com

I bet you could coax My Pie out to you as well - might be an additional couple bucks, but it's probably worth it. Guy's is a great alternative. John's pizzeria will deliver to you.

You should give Maiz a try (eat-in) - Great "pre-columbian" mexican, fantastic homeade corn tortillas, attention to detail - you can search it on LTH and there are some threads.
    1041 N. California Ave

    Feed
    2803 W Chicago Ave

Tipsy Cake for outstanding sweets (brownies, scones, custom cupcakes, custom cakes, great coffee, hamentaschen etc etc etc, great people)
    1043 N California Ave

Jibaritos and mofongo and pollo frito @ Borinquen are near you in both directions
    1720 N California Ave and
    3706 W Armitage Ave

I stopped ordering from Friendship years ago after about 4 consecutive messed-up orders and huge bills... I get my Ameri-Chinese fix from Golden Chef (I'm not going to defend or praise this other than if I'm not going to chinatown for pickup, I'll just order from them)
    3262 W North Ave

Streetside Cafe/Bar is right there at Armitage/Kedzie - good beers on tap and decent bar food.

Of course, not food, but you're now walking distance to Rosa's, so congrats :)

I lived over there for the better part of a decade, but moved about three years ago, so you might want to check on these: There's a My Pie over on Armitage and Damen, carryout only, I believe. I agree that Charlie Thai is not bad. It's been quite a long time, but I used to like to go to Flying Saucer on California near Division for breakfast.

Any sandwich with Streetside's jalapeno mayo is a winner. My fav is the roast beef po' boy. It's no New Orleans po' boy, but it's still mighty tasty.

I was pretty upset when they pulled Hoegaarden from their taps, but replacing it with the Allegash calmed my anger.

That My Pi is the one Jamie is talking about. I get delivery from there frequently where I am (6 blocks from Jamie). I know that one and the one on Clark deliver in a pretty wide area... I don't think you will be outside their area but it is possible.

Quite frankly you will probably get half the places you had at McLean and Oakley as you are really only going to be a few blocks down. While it isn't walking, most of the places you mentioned aren't walking distance to you now unless you are looking to get a workout. You will still have all of the pizza places on Milwaukee.. what was it that you got before... Father and Son for cheep, servicable thin crust? It's no My Pi but it worked with PBR. I believe a read that Papajin is closed? Too bad if so, while no great shakes, it was still better than Taki Outie when you don't want to drop 40-50+ bucks at Friendship. On the plus side you are closer to Las Asadas for normal hours and the killer trio of Lazos, Auturos, and Mi Familia for late night (Dust off the cowboy boots and hat!)
