So...perusing the back of today's Tribune At Play...on Chinatown. What? Where's Lao Sze Chuan? They breakdown cuisines by region and no Sichuan? Wha? Huh?

Also, Robin Mather Jenkins on Smoque: man, she has no business reviewing food and this is just the latest misapprehension...paraphrased, "Texas bbq sauces are ketchupy, thick, and sweet." Um...that'd be Chicago-style(and supermarket) bbq sauce. Jeezus. Texas bbq sauce is thin...sweeter than Memphis-style...but also typically has a peppery bite the better to pair with brisket. Urgh...she can't publish a piece w/o something getting my Irish up.

But a shout out to Rob Gardner for his contributions to the article. Yeah, there are some noteworthy omissions, but at least Monica sought out LTH expertise. Nice going, VI!

well, obviously I like Monica Eng's reportage...the LSC omission is a bit of a headscratcher...of course...a handful of other definitely under-reported restaurants got mentioned so it's not all bad...
