    Dear Corner Bakery,

Yes, that was me who touched 14 knives in the utensil bin, since they were put in blade end up.

The bride maintains this as well. She refuses to use a dish washer, but when I do she unfailingly corrects my technique.

One chooses one's battles, but I am glad Mike that you are taking on Corner Bakery - someone has to and it will not be me. Guess I am a wimp. :?

Up is right. With careful technique you can remove them from the basket without touching the newly clean eating surfaces.

Unless, as happened often when I was a little girl, you stab yourself on a sharp knife or fork and bleed on the "clean" dishes.

Set silverware handles down, except for knives, which should be handles up in the silverware basket.

Yes, wrongly informed, but informed nonetheless.

Doesn't it make sense to have the part that touches the food or your mouth pointing up, so gravity will help all the schmutz drain off?
