Is anyone familiar with chickpea flour. I found it at fox and obel, but the price point is too high to do anything with there. Maybe a smaller Italian or Indian grocery would carry it. Could I make my own? Any insight would be great.

    Mitch,

It will undoubtedly be much cheaper at the place where I get it, namely, Graziano's:

And now that you mention it, I think it's time for me to make some soca...

Chick pea flour is also very easy to find
and much cheaper at an Indian or Pakastani
market on Devon. Its sometimes called Channa/Chana
or Besan Flour. Samosas & Pakoras are made
    with this flour.

Jewel at Broadway and Addison carries chickpea flour in the natural foods section. You can also get it any Whole Foods. It may be labeled as garbanzo flour.

Though it may not apply to the OP's query, it may help someone conducting a future search to mention that it's available, at a reasonable price, at Garden Fresh Market in Northbrook.

I bought it at the Jewel at Ashland and Wellington for less than $5. It's also at Whole Foods. Both stores carry the Bob's Red Mill brand with a Garbanzo Flour label. Happy eating!

I echo the Devon/India-town suggestion. My family and I have been going to Kamdar Plaza for all of our Indian groceries for years (we're Indian). It's all very fresh, clean, etc.

    Mitch,

You're most welcome; I'm very glad to hear you visited Graziano's and got to meet Jim (maybe both Jim's, Sr & Jr?). I definitely need to get over there myself and chickpea flour will be on the list of things to pick up.
