If you find yourself hungry in the northern part of NW Indiana Casa Lupita, a small, family run Mexican resturaunt is a good option. Nothing groundbreaking by Chicago standards (although there is a Taco de Lupita which has bits of hot dog among other things)(and certainly not worth going too far out of your way for).
Recent breakfast talk spurred me on to write this. I had the best chilaqueles I've ever had there yesterday. Perfect ranchero sauce, tortillas still with a bit of crunch, excellent egg. My girlfriend had a potato and egg breakfast which was excellent as well. I tried a al pastor taco and I was surprised that it surpassed almost every Chicago place I've tried.
Prices were standard almost make you feel guilty dirt cheap.
It's located on Highway 12 just after the 12/20 split off in EC (not the 12/20 split in Gary)--just east of the high school (not far from Horseshoe Casino).
