Food Studies Grants Available
Just wanted to mention two upcoming grant opportunities in food studies. Please note that the first is due in a couple of weeks.
1)
The Geoffrey Roberts Trust gives out an annual international travel grant worth about £3,000 (almost $6,000 US); applicants must demonstrate "that their travels are likely to make a positive difference to the worlds of food, drink and/or travel." According to the website: "Applications are welcome from anyone of any age and experience, no matter where in the world they are located. Preference will be given to applicants whose schemes involve gaining experience that will be of value not only to the applicants themselves. What you have to say is much more important to us than whether it is expressed in perfect English." Info on how to apply is at Geoffrey Roberts Award. Deadline: March 30, 2007.
2)
The Culinary Historians of New York (CHNY) is soliciting applications for its 3rd annual Amelia Scholar's Grant, a $1,000 unrestricted stipend to further research in culinary history. Those interested should send a short (no more than 500 words) research proposal plus one letter of recommendation to the address listed on Amelia Scholar's Grant website. Applications are due May 31, 2007. Check the website for updated details: Culinary Historians of New York.
If list members know about other opportunities, please feel free to share them with the group.
