In the on again, mostly off again saga of Tortilleria Rivera, the store is now open again 8-4 Saturday and Sunday the last few weekends. Lots of packages ($1 each) are on the counter, but warm tortillas are kept in a large cooler and available if you ask.

I hit this spot Saturday while in Aurora doing some research.

$1.69/dz. for some really nice, fresh tortillas. & a friendly smile to boot.

Based on Saturday I believe some expoloration of the Mexican markets, etc. in Aurora is in the cards, I did see a taco cart down the street that was setting up as well.

    Jim-

We happened to drive through part of Aurora and North Aurora on our way home from Earlville on Sunday. I commented to Mr. X that it could be fun to explore the Mexican options out there because we seemed to pass a number of taquerias and such in our wanders. We were on Galena Boulevard to Broadway to Indian Trail (I think.) Unfortunately, we weren't in the adventuresome mood since we were only taking the backroads because we had blown a tire and couldn't go over 50 mph on the donut... It would be interesting to find out if we should make an effort to go out of our way next year.

Jim, looks like El Paso Grande does only flour tortillas? (Given the name that would seem right, and I only see white ones in your pix).

All I saw was white flour & darker wheat tortilla being made.

Senses were overloaded from the bustling markets meat counter, and food buffet, that I only snapped a couple quick pics & grabbed a pack of tortillas. :)
