Sounds like quite a blowup at Le Francais. Trib had a little squib, but Sun-Times story covers more and doesn't require registration to look at.

Michael Lachowicz,34, and Tom, 30, "who is pursuing sommelier certification, will continue consulting for the Des Plaines restaurant Cafe La Cave. In addition, Michael will do research and development work for a food production company whose clients include Trader Joe's and United Airlines."

Interesting. I liked their (really Michael's) work at Deux Gros. Was less pleased by Cochon Sauvage, whose chef now works at Cafe Deux Gros, doesn't he? One meal at Le Francais (a fixed menu Easter Brunch) was okay, but not exciting, but I thought that might just be the event.

I look forward to their next place. Lachowicz is an accomplished and talented chef.

Strangely enough, WTTW just ran a "Best Of" Check Please which featured a review of Le Deux Grox. I'm amazed that they would rerun a segment on a restaurant that has been closed for over a year. :?:

According to my Tivo, at least some of those episodes dated from three years ago -- I can't think of any faster way to lose credibility than to assume three-year-old restaurant reviews are still valid.
