    Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone can help me find a source for fresh eggs. I live in Joliet, so the closer the better. But don't be afraid to recommend someplace that is a bit of a drive. I regularly drive quite a long way for my regular grocery shopping.

    thanks!

We should be having fresh eggs regularly within a few weeks and I live in Crete Township (Will Cty). Not too far from you. I just got some Buff Orpingtons that are about 4-5 months old and they should begin to lay eggs any day now. We might be willing to work something out, if you're interested.

I had been jonesing for fresh eggs for so long, I decided to go back to keeping a few in our back yard again. You'd be surprised just how easy it is to do. This time 'round, though -- NO ROOSTERS! They make way too much noise all the time and serve no purpose in the production of non-fertile eggs.

Their eggs will be light brown, but contrary to popular lore, brown eggs have no greater nutritive value than white ones. They sure are cute chickens though. Like big golden puffs of fluff.

Thanks for the offer Artemesia :)

I really miss the taste of fresh eggs. I've currently had my knee worked on and won't be driving fo a bit. But if the offer is still available in the future, I would love to work something out. What did you have in mind? Do you cook with San Marzano tomatos? I've got a few places near by that carries them.

    just let me know??

    thanks,

When you're all mended, contect me again and we'll arrange something. Like I said, the girls haven't even started laying yet, so we've got time.

I have a garden and grow a lot of tomatoes, although I haven't tried growing San Marzanos yet. Thanks for the offer.

I know there is a place is Wilton Center that sells fresh eggs, it is just past the intersection where Cedar and 52 split just west of Cedar. I dont have an adddress or phone because I always find it via the roadside sign. From Joliet you would exit 80 at Briggs and go south through Manhattan, or just take 52 south if you want to avoid 80. I will try to get the contact info for those who are not looking to explore that part of Will County.
