Once again the Tribune demonstrates why the are the newspaper of all of Chicago, just as long as it is north of Madison Street.

The Tribune's Insiders' Food Guide to Chicago (published Wednesday April 11) names 40 culinary locations in Chicago (for those that have several outlets, I count the first named). Of these 37 are north of Madison Street: under 7.5% South Side (Bombon, Five Continents, and the French Pastry School (on Jackson - south side just barely, but it counts)).

They do note Pilsen/Little Village and Chinatown (and Argyle), but list no culinary establishments.

OK, some of this reflects the economic organization of the city, some reflects their target readership, but some reflects the world as seen from the Tribune Tower.

more than likely, the writer's 'swath' was targeted towards the trib's north and northwest demographic, suburbanite base.
