Per an earlier thread suggesting their Egg salad sandwich (which was in fact delicious) I checked them out today for lunch. But they did also have a sign up that they are closing in late April (can't remeber their exact date) as the owner is taking on some new adventure in Mexico.

For anyone who is a fan, thought I would pass along the info.

I was just there yesterday (also having the egg salad, in fact!) and didn't even notice the sign.

It's too bad, Brett's was one of the undersung destinations on Roscoe, in my opinion.

Oh no! This is our go-to place for brunch after getting a haircut over at Big Hair. Booooo! Where will we go, now? Victory's Banner got old really fast, and Wishbone isn't really our speed. Crud. Hopefully they'll still be open this weekend, so we can get one last cut 'n' brunch. Bugger. I'm really going to miss that lobster club sandwich, it was out of this world. The huevos rancheros were a reliably good choice, too, and very much hit the spot on a cold winter morning.

I was just wondering the other day how Brett's stays open. The place always seemed empty.... besides for weekend brunch. In any case, that is a prime location and hopefully something solid moves in. Gee, I think a Pequod's would be perfect there!!

A neighbor of mine said Orange is opening an outpost there, continuing Roscoe's run as Breakfast Row.

i hope this is true!!!!! it would do great as kitsch'n's service really lacks. went to kitsch'n for breakfast this weekend and waited about 50 minutes for our food. it seems no one who works there checked the weather because they seemed overwhelmed by the crowds out enjoying the nice weather. wish we would have gone to brett's instead for one last time, but i was craving the green eggs 'n ham for some reason. forty mintes after ordering i was told they ran out of ham and had the choice of bacon or sausage instead. orange would be a great addition :)

Service at Brett's seemed a bit overtaxed too. Fact is, all those places are going to be overcrowded on the first nice day of spring, and there's not much any of them can do about it.

Agreed. The funny thing was that they all seemed so suprised at the crowds coming in. Seemed like common sense to me!
