Is there any place not terribly far from Glenview that serves a decent afternoon tea? My bro would like to take our mom, and she DOES NOT like to travel far. Thanks very much.

Long Grove isn't too far from Glenview, and if you're looking for a lovely, classic, English afternoon tea with finger sandwiches and scones, Seasons of Long Grove is a great choice. It's a charming spot for tea in the midst of a charming, historic village of shops.

If you're just looking for a nice cup of tea, Sweet Dreams in Glenview is a lovely, cozy spot that offers big, comfy chairs a la Starbucks and organic teas (the organic jasmine is outstanding), plus they have little house-made dainties if you want food (crustless quiche is noteworthy)

Thanks very much! Sounds good, I am going to let my mom and brother know. And they are places for me to visit when I go up there, too!

    HI,

Doesn't Seasons have a collection of fancy hats visitors are encouraged to wear during their visit?

Yes -- great, wide-brimmed straw hats decked with ribbons and silk flowers are available for those who wish to make the tea party more fun.

The Celtic Knot in Evanston does Afternoon Tea on Wed. and Sat. from 2-4. Reservations recommended. It's a classic English tea with scones, little sandwiches and the lot. Very nicely done.
