Hi there. I need to find a bulk candy store in Northwest Chicago or surrounding 'burbs before the 24th. I'm making beehive cupcakes with yellow jellybeans decorated with black gel icing to look like bees. If anybody knows a place to find just yellow ones, please let me know! Thanks! Also, I want to find those sugar alphabet-shaped candies that are generally found with the cake decorating stuff. They're usually packaged on a cardboard square. Do they still sell these things at Jewel?

I don't know if Jelly Bellies will be too small, but many of their retailers sell them in bins separated by color.

I have seen the letters at Jewel, another source (though I'd call first) for cake decorating supplies is Michael's crafts or many of those card and party outlet stores (I know they have single-color M&Ms at the party stores, which might work in a pinch)

    Make sure you post pics!

:? I don't have a digital camera but I'm going to find a disposable and try my best to figure out how to post. As I reported to another responder, I'm a techno-twit, but I'm going to try, so check back in two weeks or so!
I have a blog, but it's a ridiculous mess, so if this posting stuff goes well, I'll finally have some fodder for the site and I'll revive it. That information will be on the next posting here too. You guys are getting me all excited about this now! :D

A long time ago Lincolnwood Town Center had a bulk candy store, but you might want to call them to see if the candy place is still a tenant (if this isn't too far out of the city for you).

How many yellow jelly beans do you need? Could you just go to Target or some place like that and just eyeball a regular bag of assorted beans that would have enough yellows?

I am pretty sure The Home Economist in Skokie will have what you're looking for. It is in a strip mall on Gross Point Road just south of Skokie Blvd. Sorry I don't know the address!

I was just at the party store in Niles on Touhy, they have your frosting letters and yellow M&Ms but no jellybeans...I know there's a bulk candy store in Old Orchard, but don't remember what they carry except for gummies...
