stumbling along the 2100 e block of 71st st, seeking my first taste of 'thats a burger' for lunch...

(i bypassed it twice... methinks, its window may have been knocked out and recently replaced, sans sign, hence i missed it).

anyhoo... on this this lil' stretch of street, i did find...

a little mexican front, called rosita's, whose menu board listed a tortilla wrapped, bacon encased wiener (mmm... bacon - next time).

on another front, called harold's chicken (didn't note, if this was a 'numbered' location or 'what')... as i was, by this time, wafting (quimby like) along the 'sweet' smoke trail of 'aquarium' burnt hardwood embers, emmenating from 'bk barbeque'.

my tips and links, were 'par' excellent. the deep fried (lightly sauced), pick'ns, observed being wrapped for others, did also, appear to be, positively delectable.

i can't help to wonder... what a bit of (city subsidized) streetscaping, better signage and perhaps, sidewalk tables, would do to 'vitalize' this small oasis of delightful eats.

Hail thee, That's A Burger. I'm glad you found that Harold's, too - certainly a thousandfold improvement on the Hyde Park location. 71st is a beautiful street from a civic planning perspective - great architecture and one of the only places in the city that the regular Metra train runs straight down the middle of a street instead of intersecting it. That neighborhood is rapidly improving. I'll continue to go down there even if my friends at TAB finally open their long awaited Hyde Park location.
