To quote a Zeppelin song: (nearly) ten years gone? Think of how far our fair city has come in certain respects, but not others...

Like this one. The girl wants Japanese curry; I am blanking on where one might find it. Thoughts? One caveat here: she doesn't eat the land-based animal, so i need a place where you can do a pick-your-protein sort of deal...

GNR Renga Tei frequently has Katsu Curry on the menu. Give them a call and ask if they'll sub tofu or fish for the pork. It's a very good version. The same is also true of GNR Sunshine Cafe.

It's really easy to make at home as well, if that's something you would want to do. They sell the blocks of curry roux at asian markets and you just simmer veggies until soft and add the blocks and serve over rice.

Mitsuwa has a curry place in its food court. (Not exactly a restaurant, but at least someone else is dishing it up.) It also has a whole aisle of curry roux, for making your own Japanese curry at home -- because, as noted above, it is easy to make at home -- and you can control what goes into it if you make it at home.

We passed by that spot this afternoon as we made our way back to the city after a very entertaining ramen (+) crawl. More to come on that.

I love the atmosphere at Yume but found the food wildly inconsistent (one visit only). I don't think they regularly have curry though. As far as I can tell the menus aren't available online so here they are in case anyone wants a look (apologies for poor quality). They also have a 30+ bottle sake list with useful descriptions, including SMV and acidity.
