One of my site visitors asked me where to get good fish 'n chips around State & Wacker. Any suggestions?

(I'm obviously going to refer him here, but would like to know for my own info also!)

    Thanks

I've had good fish and chips at Elephant and Castle in Vancouver and I know there is a location on Wabash near Lake. Someone may want to comment if they've been to that location but I know E & C offers fish and chips.

Not quite around State and Wacker, but Dylan's (118 S. Clinton) or the Elephant and Castle is a short bus ride away. I often make the trip down Adams from Wabash for wings. I know Monday's on Dearborn has them,

I like the F&C at Elephant and Castle but I'd also like to put in a plug for the f&c at the Atwood Cafe. I haven't had it in awhile but before E&C there wasn't any place comparable to getting fish and chips in the loop. And they have this amazing artichoke dip to spread on good focaccia when you get there.

The Atwood is in the Hotel Burnham at State and Washington. And it's awfully pretty to eat in...

I had good (not extraordinary, but good) fish and chips at:

A very new place, The Gage, at 24 south Michigan Ave. has them listed on the menu. I haven't eaten there yet, but at least the place looks quite attractive.

Can't say I'd eat at Dylan's - I used to work at Trans Union (right down the street) and I can honestly say that you could die of bar-food boredom at Dylan's...not to mention the food tastes as if they don't clean the fryer that often.

I like the Celler's market in the basement of the CBOE building on Fridays for fish fry. It's closer to State and Wacker too - although not by much.

A few steps away, but the Peppercanister (Irish pub) at Wells & Grand.

There is an Elephant and Castle on Adams near Clark as well. I second Cellars market. Not really fish and chips but great fried fish, usually eaten as a sandwich.

Oddly, I've enjoyed the F&C at Ceres in the Board of Trade. No atmosphere, and not-so-great chips, but the fish is pretty good.
