It's an Italian restaurant (obviously) right near Swift Rd./Army Trail/355. Has anyone ever been here? I tried looking on metromix/other sites, but couldn't find reviews. Thinking about doing a nice dinner here... any input would be appreciate as to quality of food/service/etc. Thanks! :P

Growing up in Villa Park, there used to be Ben Venuti's and Villa Venuti's, owned by the same family. They sold both restaurants and bought the current location primarily to cater to showers, weddings, and other events, if I remember correctly. I've heard good things from relatives still out West, but they are Ital-Amer traditionalists, and looking at the menu online, the offerings are still very standard, and at a fairly high pricepoint. I'll still swear by La Piazza (Forest Park, http://www.piazzacafe.com/) as the paragon of suburban Italian.

It has been a couple of years, more or less. Decent Ital-Amer in a mirrored, bright room. Can't say I really liked anything there, but it was not awful either. I do recall that the last time I was there it was crowded noisy and smelled heavily of bathroom cleaner, which is why it was the last time.

There is a place at route 53 and Lake that is much better, but I am drawing a blank on the name. It is not so nearby, but the best I can think of around there.

    DeMarco's - It's quite good for Ital-American fare.

You'd also be wise to check out Amalfi's for similar standards not too far away in Bloomingdale. Check this out from the distant past. http://www.chowhound.com/topics/111660?query=amalfi's

I also will give DeMarco's a nod. Good standard italian fare. Most of the people that dine there are italians. I was not impressed with Venutis at all.
