I was out at the 4000 something west North area last weekend and I passed a Mexican bakery that smelled fantastic. I was drawn in by the smell and walked around enjoying the sights and smells. I determined I would return after my appointment, but decided against it after the people with in an office a block away said the place smelled good but wasn't great quality.

Now, however, I can't get the place out of my head and I'm wondering if anyone has bakery recommendations. For some reason today's bakeries all tend to be trendy cafe type of places. I love the warehousey bakeries whose business really is to put together great bread and pastries rather then to server froofy customers a latte with a perfectly coiffed delicacy.

I did a search in the archives and found some recommendations in Chinatown and a thread about the bakery strip around the Andersonville area. Does any one have any secret ethnic bakeries to recommend?
