I am going to the Oak Brook/Lombard area on Friday to have lunch with friends. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good place that is not part of a chain? Or just even a good place? So far it seems like the typical places like Pappadeaux, Mangiano's, Olive Garden, and mall food offer the only choice.

Note: I already posted a similar question, but am not sure which board it went on. Forgive me if I double posted, I am new to this.

    Hi Lorri
Here are a couple of posts addressing your question. http://www.lthforum.com/bb/viewtopic.ph ... tmont#1895

Of course a lot depends on the friends. Banda Nawez is probably too chow-y. The Westmont Lao Sze Chaun would be great assuming the friends would like Chinese (and it's a nice restaurant with a very broad menu). Otherwise Antico Posta or Costa's. If you decide on Costa's, be sure to print out the on-line coupons before you go. http://www.costasdining.com/

York Tavern, for a gas-inducing double-cheeseburger and a side of atmosphere.

There is a very good new Thai place on Roosevelt in Lombard called Dusit. Still visiting and gathering info to post...

It is on the north side in a strip mall about 1/4 mile west of main street, I believe. Apparently too new to show up in Google.

I know this is too late to be of use, but I want to get it into the knowledge base.
