    Hi,

Does anybody know of a place to buy those long flat metal blades used to make kifta (kufta, kofte) kebabs (kabobs, kebobs)?

I bought a dozen or so from Cleopatra last year. See this thread

    Cleopatra Meat & Market
    4605 N. Kedzie,
    Chicago, IL 60625
    (773) 539-0080

I was tempted, but I didn't buy this:

Thanks sazerac, I knew I couldn't be the only one around here looking for them. I will stop there this weekend.

Not sure that these are what you want, but Menards has this thingee in the grill section- a rectangular base that holds the kebabs and keeps them slightly off the grill. It makes them easier to turn, I suppose. The box includes several skewers of the flat blade variety. Not sure of the cost - maybe $5. I tried it once but thought the meat was too far from the grill - maybe I needed larger chunks of meat, lol. It was easy to turn, though. It may be a dash expensive to buy this item of nebulous function just to get several flat skewers  But, to me, it's so close, I don't have to spend any gas money to go find them.

Mediterranean Oasis in Naperville has the skewers you are looking for. I believe they are in the second or third aisle from the door.

I'm pretty sure I've seen them at the Pita Inn Market and Bakery on Dempster in Skokie, which is just west of the restaurant itself. It's been a while since I browsed there, so I'd definitely call before making a dedicated trip.
