I was in New York City for the 2nd time in two weeks a few days ago, this time in Manhattan (I was in Brooklyn two weeks ago). I have family in New York, and one family member has been raving about Bubby's in Tribeca for a long, long time, so finally he dragged me over there last Friday.
All I can say is, I have never been so full in my life. The food kept coming, from corn bread to burgers to mac and cheese to Spanish rice to french fries to Bubby's famous pies. Everything was very good, with the burger being particularly tasty (they marinade it with onion broth). The mac and cheese was also excellent, with a (very) sharp cheddar cheese giving it an extra oomph. And then there were the pies......the peanut butter and chocolate pie I had there was creamy but light, and absolutely delicious. I still don't know how I was able to eat it, though, after all the food we had there.
I would definitely go back to Bubby's, though next time I'll probably go light on the bread and side dishes and concentrate on the entrees and the pie.
