    :D Oh boy oh boy.
I'm coming by myself, in the walk-n-eat group. I can just smell those mangoes & samosas now. Should we all be wearing red roses on our lapels or should we just all look out for a massive crowd?

I plan to be there plus one - there is something looming on the horizon that might take us away that weekend, but I should know well in advance.

Oh, and since we live on the outskirts of Small Pakistan, our place can be used as a convenient pit stop :D

Maybe if we can we can toss in another grocery? A little joint along the way is sure to pop up. Can we just have a 'shout out' rule, as in, if someone sees something mind-blowing we can shout out 'hey, let's stop there?'

I'm in with 2 -- possibly 3 -- guests. Please count us as part of the 'walk and eat' group. As I posted upthread, I think we'll have to cut out a bit early because of evening plans but we plan to be there right at the outset.

If you're doing another grocery, I suggest Kamdar Plaza. They also have a deli-like section that has cooked food like samosas, bel puri, sev, ALL KINDS OF GOOD STUFF.

That sounds good. Also, if we could fit something in between La Unica and Khan BBQ; it's a long way with nothin' but walkin'.

Unfortunately I am going to be in Minneapolis on this weekend, so I am maddeningly withdrawing myself and my +2 from the group. It looks fantastic and I look forward to reading about it.

Ghareeb Nawaz is on the plan. I didn't include Usmania and Mazza as I thought they might be similar to Khan.

I'll be there, walking and eating.

But now that we have pushed the time back to 11:15 that give us 15 extra minutes to add another breakfast.

I think I will be able to make a couple of hours, as I'm going to be crashing up in Evanston the night before after an alumni event.

I think I will likely join in at King Sweets and bow out at Khan BBQ. I would like to be in the walk-and-eat group.

I'm still in, though I've given some thought to backing out - given the anticipated large size of the group. Walk & Eat will be by preference, though I may "gather" something too. I doubt I'll make the walk to La Unica - because that'll probably consume an hour (walking there, ordering/eating, walking back W.). Thanks for working on the event, and the logistics.

Hellodali, I would definitely be interested in attending. I would be attending alone. This is a genre of food I haven't had a lot of exposure to and would definitely love to try! I am in for the walking & eating group.

I might suggest, since a lot of people seemed to be pressed for time, considering splitting between people who just want to go in and out of places, and those who are interested in the sit-downs (45 min stops). If we do that, I definitely would be interested in the latter. I'm sure I'll appreciate a sit-down or two after sampling all that food!!

I also think it wouldn't be a bad idea to let the "faster" group (or two) get a head start so that we wouldn't be crowding up the places at the same time. Just some thoughts...

    Thanks for organizing this!!

ps: If anyone has any advice on parking and/or transport, I'd appreciate it. I live in the south suburbs and would be driving. Would it be better to park near an el station further south and take the train up, or can I find parking if I'm willing to pay for it?

    Hi Nora:

Splitting into a faster and slower group might not be a bad idea. We can organize as we munch on hachapuri outside of the Argo Bakery. I'm also going around this week to give all of the places a heads up to expect some larger groups on Saturday.

As far as getting up there, the closest red line stop is at Granville, which is about 1 1/2 miles away. The closest Brown line is at Western and Lawrnece, also about 1 1/2 miles away. Actually, if you go south of Devon and maybe east of Western, there should be some street parking. I don't have problems parking on the street on Saturdays and I am south of Devon and east of Western. Then you'll only be walking about 1/2 mile to get to the first stop.

The closest elevated station on the CTA is probably "Loyola," at which you can catch a Devon bus which will take you to California & Devon (or wherever it is along the route on Devon you care to join the group). Of course, the "closest" might depend upon where you're coming from. One can also take the Brown Line "el" to Kimball (the end of the line) and catch a California bus which will take you right to Devon Ave. - which brings you to the westernmost end of the planned route. Getting off the Brown Line at Western Ave. and taking the extension of the Western Ave. bus which ends just S. of Howard St. will bring you to the middle of the route - Devon & Western.

I think it's the walk and eat group I want, right? That's the one that's going to different places, vs. taking food to a park?
