I just saw a post over at Tastespotting on these little fish-shaped cookie/cakes called Taiyaki . . . they look lovely and are supposedly filled with everythhing from bean paste to chocolate (or even sausage). Has anyone ever seen these sold anywhere in the Chicagoland area, or perhaps at a Japanese festival? I did not see them at the Ginza Festival last summer.

    Thanks in advance!

Super H-mart sells something similar, made fresh manned by a middle-aged Korean man, by their fresh-made tofu area and checkout lanes. The place makes a Korean version of taiyaki (essentially the same ingredients except they're not "snapper" shaped, rather are obanyaki - oval shaped) as well as fresh-made dried squid snacks.

P.S. I think H-marts only has red bean.
