Has anyone been to Jacky's Bistro in Evanston recently? I've heard good things about it but haven't talked to anyone that has dined there recently. Also, appetizer, entree, and dessert recs would be great. Thanks!

I havent had dinner there for a couple of years, but I had lunch a couple of months ago and it was very good. A bit pricy for lunch, but very good food and nice atmosphere. I would expect things to be good since the fancy place that he tried downtown (Pluton?) closed, and he is presumably concentrating on the bistro.

I was last there about 6 months ago, and I found it just the same as on all prior visits, which I have always enjoyed. I find them quite consistent in their execution. I don't think Pluton has any connection with it, but it's still mostly the dishes he created. For recommendations, they have a great foie gras appetizer, which is legal since its in Evanston. I've also enjoyed the short rib main dish. Can't remember much else.

I'm more inclined to revisit Jacky's Bistro knowing that Jacky doesn't own it, having been treated by him in a way we felt was unconscionable on a visit when he did. (I doubt anyone's interested in the details of that, which are tiresome even to me at this point, but in case anyone thinks you shouldn't just claim to have been treated "unconscionably" by a restaurateur without providing the details that justify the claim, I'll be happy to.) Bottom line, I've been thinking for some time that it might be nice to go back to Jacky's (now that it's safe), so I'm glad to hear the food is holding up.

I didnt realize that Pluton had bailed out on the bistro. Since the place downtown is closed, what is he doing? Not that it sounds like anyone here cares other than to know what to avoid. I had dinner at the bistro maybe 6 times in the past, and always enjoyed it, including a wine dinner many years ago at the previous location that was fantastic.

He was involved in the trainwreck that was Narra ... apparently he's also playing a lot of golf.
