Our second visit today, and it was as good as our first. Open for lunch and dinner, a continental menu with nice surprises.

This is a low key place, but the food is outstanding. Do yourself a favor, have a meal here. Reasonable prices and worth a trip there.

    JollyCholly,

Looks like an eclectic menu. What did you have when you went there?

With a single post to this person's name (unless the counter's broken), this sort of reads like one of those hit and run advertisement deals.

Sometimes enthusiastic first-time posters can be mistaken for advertisers -- and you know, you have to post about something the first time you post. I'd like to know more about this place. JollyCholly...?

Wow, tough crowd. I did post a few times in the past, but it has been a while.

Today I had their Panini sandwich, which is roast beef and provolone cheese on roasted italian bread. I had them hold their "roasted red peppers". My lunch mates and I all had the same sandwich, two had it with cole slaw and I had their fresh fruit. You can also get potato salad as a side.

PS: Not an ad for the place, I just thought I'd share a good place.

    JollyCholly,

Thanks for sharing -- that's what the forum is all about.

This place hasn't been mentioned yet, so good find!

Odd that the counter indicates only 2 posts...

I never thought there was this much "action" at LTHF. I have tried to "redeem myself" by mentioning some older LTHF posts I have submitted to Michael Gebert who was kind enough to tell me I appear to be a "newbie" here. In answer to a question asked above, the A. D. restaurant is about ten blocks south of the train tracks in Westmont. (The tracks are about 51st and Cass).

I hope A. D. gets a lot of interest, just don't crowd the place! I do hate to wait in line.

We've been to Absolutely Delicious a few times for both lunch & dinner and the name is quite fitting! I even had them cater a business luncheon for about 20 coworkers and that was wonderful.

This place looks adorable! Thank you for the post. I've been looking for somewhere different to eat lunch in the area as I go out to that area about once a month.

I will report in once I've had a chance to try it.

(Now if only I can figure out how to put these into a regular LTHF post)

Wonderful food. The parmesan crusted trout had sauteed spinach, rice pilaf with pine nuts and orange-basil butter sauce.
The salmon was served over horseradish mashed potatoes with a vegatable ragout and lemon butter sauce.
Finally, the fallen chocolate souffle. What can I say? Awesome!

I'm not much of a fan of salmon cooked over or on cedar preferring instead the traditional alder, but that trout looks very good. Is this place open for lunch?

Tonight my wife and daughter joined me at the AD restaurant. (Pics)

The bread basket was delightful, with onion bread, fresh biscuits and a cracker baked with cheddar cheese bits.

Tonight my wife had their Chicken Salad, which is mixed greens with grilled chicken, pears, apples, candied walnuts and Wisconsin blue cheese, served with a cider vinaigrette.

    Cynthia,

Westmont is about four miles south of the Oak Brook shopping center, if that's helpful to you.

Just west of Route 83, near 63rd Street.

It's easy to miss though.... it's in a strip mall on the west side of Cass Avenue, just south of the Indian Garden Restaurant. Definitely worth the effort to find!

This looks quite promising. That salmon looked great, but it's the bread that has me pondering what I had for dinner and how unappealing it was next to this. Yum.

Another to add to the list...

I guess I have to go and check it out. The notes and information remind me a bit of Zanders (2241 Maple, Downers Grove), which is not too far away, though it looks as if the food might be a little more ambitious. Has anyone tried both so they can offer a comparison?

I like Zanders okay, but always found the food a little more ambitious than their ability to execute. So it seemed like if they simplified things a little, the place would be better. But it is decent food and a good value.

Anyway, I will try AD and report back. Not sure how I feel about that name, though, seems like they are setting us up for disappointment 8)

Zander’s used to be one of my favorite places for a nice lunch. However, about a year or so ago the ownership turned over. I was told that the previous owner/chef (Brad Morgan, I think) moved to Colorado. Since then I have been there twice and do not plan on going back. Initially it seemed they tried to keep the same dishes, but only by name. It just wasn’t the same quality.

I tried AD last week and wanted to go back this week to give it a second chance. I will post more after my next visit.

Thanks for the Zanders update, Dodger. Can't say I am too disappointed since my feelings were mixed, but it was an interesting enough place so it is a loss. Sounds like you will be posting that AD is a much better choice so I will look forward to that.

I started this subject a few weeks ago, and have been tracking the responses here. I'm amazed that it's been seen by 2,348 readers so far. Given my high opinion of this place, I would have thought more folks would have chimed in with positive reviews.

Ah well, I'm still pleased with the result, and I hope those of you who have tried AD have enjoyed it as much as I have.

I just drove by AD, and remembered they are closed on Mondays, and only open for dinner on Sundays. Then I thought, well, no one will try going there if any distance is involved, without checking their hours of operation...

What I didn't expect when I tried their web site was that it would also be down. So, I'm posting here again. On Sundays, it's Dinner only, 4 to 8 PM.

I hope no one has tried going there without calling for their hours, etc.
