Does anyone know of any restaurants currently offering a Like Water For Chocolate menu, either regularly or by special arrangement? We are a book club of North siders and Evanstonians. We are aware that we can get it at Lupita's by special arrangement, but I am wondering if there are others to consider. Price and location are important.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I don't have an answer to your question. Do you happen to know the menu Lupita's offers and the cost range?

Babette's Feasts were offered at several restaurants when the movie was first out. There is a restaurant around Carbondale where the chef-owner cooked for the movie Babette's Feast. He will occasionally make the grand meal usually for local fundraisers. The last time I was forwarded an invitation it was $150.

There is/was a restaurant in our area who once a month makes a 'Big Night' meal from the movie. I cannot find the restaurant's name, though I have never seen a full blown report from anyone about it.

Sorry, I don't really have details, except you have to have a minimum number of persons, and I don't recall how many.

Bella Vista on Belmont (closed for upwards of 5 years) used to have a Big NIght menu. I never had that menu but the food there was pretty good (B+ I'd say)

    Pam,

Topolobampo used to offer a Like Water for Chocolate dinner on Valentines Day. I'm guessing they still have the recipes and menu, you might try giving them a call.

My wife and I went two years in a row, a lovely, delicious and very romantic way to spend Valentines day.

    Enjoy,
    Gary

I seem to recall seeing a "Like Water for Chocolate" menu at Sol de Mexico earlier this year.
