Hello LTHers - I'm in search of high-quality Talavera serving bowls, platters, etc. Any idea where to get them in Chicago?

Try Tienda Tzintzuntzan, the gift shop at the National Museum of Mexican Arts (W. 19th St between Paulina and Damen), and Artesanias D'Mexico, on W. 18th next door to Mundial Cocina Mestiza.

Here is a link to a write up of the couple who run Artesanias D'Mexico:

Definitely call them before going, because the store is closed when they go to Mexico to buy more items. But I think they are in Chicago right now because last week there was a truck unloading big chimneas in front of the store.

Not local, but I have purchased quite a few on eBay. Funny thing is at lower prices than what I could bargain for on my last trip to Mexico ;)

just got back from Artesanias D'Mexico. What an amazing store. Friendly, knowledgeable owner. Huge stock of Talavera. I bought several pieces at what seemed like reasonable prices. Thanks, Amata, for the recommendation!
