Has anyone been to Pizza Fest before?
This is the first I have heard of this event
and was wondering if it was worth while.
If you don't know about the event visit the

I have two separate thoughts on what it
will be like. The first is a vision of the
streets of Fullerton lined with wood and gas
fired pizza ovens, beer flowing and fun to
be had by all. The second is what I'm sure
is the more realistic of my thoughts. Pizzas,
delivered from the stores in boxes to the
fair only to be reheated or stored in a plastic
display case with a wonderful rotating wheel.

I dunno about the pizza, but "cornhole tournament" was responsible for my monitor having a nice iced tea bath!

Did anyone else go to this? We did, and boy was it a debacle. We got there at about 12:30. All of 4 vendors were there, completely swamped and constantly running out of pizza. Not good times.

Anyone know if the situation improved at all as the weekend went on?

Not even a little bit. I went on Sunday, in the early afternoon and can without any remorse call "Chicago Pizza Fest" the biggest food-related disappointment I've ever experienced in this city.

The first thing it was missing? CHICAGO STYLE PIZZA!!! I honestly couldnt believe it when I got there and not were there only 4 vendors, but only 3 of them were actually selling "pizza" and NONE of those had deep-dish/pan/stuffed crust.

It was like going to a Beerfest to find out they only had white wine spritzers. The organizers of that festival should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. They need to either completely rework that thing or can it all together. The idea of a Chicago Pizza Fest was something I had gotten incredibly excited about and had been talking about for a week or two. Enormous let down.

I too tried the inaugural Pizza Fest on Sunday afternoon, and my wife and I were asking each other where the pizza was? I agree, whomever was responsible for Pizza Fest should be ashamed of themselves, and should offer everyone who made a $5 donation to literally do nothing more than walk down a street, a refund. My guess, is there will not be a 2nd annual pizza fest next year. Maybe, it would make more sense to not schedule during the Taste of Chicago, when all the other pizza restaurants in the city are sending their pizzas downtown.
