    Hello, hello:

I was referred to this board by a friend and have spent the past hour gleefully reading the message board. I just moved to Chicago, live in Andersonville, and have already visited Guatemalan, Swedish, Mexican, and Sicilian bakeries -- I am already in love with my neighborhood, and the city.

I love to eat, but I hate eating alone. So my question is this: Are there any foodie clubs/meetups/gatherings that will take me under their gastronomical wings and introduce me to Chicago's tasty treats? Would you recommend cooking classes to meet people? Is there anything specifically for young people who like food? (I'm 23.)

My goal is twofold: to make friends, and to eat really, really well. If you know of how to get started, please let me know.

Well, you've found one already. If you follow our Events Calendar Board, there are many well-organized and ad-hoc events planned, open to anyone (and anyone can plan one too).

    Best,
    Michael

Welcome to Chicago! I organize the Chicago Cooks & Bakers Meetup Group. You are more than welcome to join in the many events I host throughout the month. More details can be found here:

Thanks! I will definitely check out the calendar and add the meetup to my schedule.

Do you know of any night-time pastry classes or cooking schools (more professional than like, one time Chopping Block classes) that meet at night? I work 9-5 downtown M-F, and would like to do that after work.

Here are some resources you can check out for pastry classes:
