Does anyone have ideas about restaurants that can have a sit-down dinner for 100 for a wedding reception? Either a private room, or a restaurant that will rent itself out if you spend a minimum? I'd like something classy and tasty, but not crazy expensive (e.g., Everest is probably too much). I really think this would be the best option for avoiding bland, over-priced wedding food.

My fiance is an avid foodie and LTH contributor, though this is my first time posting. I've been trolling wedding-planning message boards for ideas about restaurants to hold our wedding reception, but then I realized that, since all we really care about is the food, this is where I should be. Any thoughts or comments on your own experiences would be greatly appreciated. You can put me in a tutu when the day comes and I won't care, but I really want good food.

There is a very similar thread here with some workable ideas for yourself.

I had my reception at Spiaggia almost two years ago. It's mentioned several times in the other thread. We had 120 people and it was incredible. We did the platinum package and given all that's included, it's a great deal compared to other places we investigated. Also, the chairs are extremely attractive and comfortable so you don't need to rent chairs (many of the other places we looked at had awful chairs and it costs $10-$15 per chair to rent). I highly recommend it.

We are having our wedding reception at Carmichael's Chicago Steak House in the West Loop this November. Their largest room seats about 100. Their banquet menu is available on their website. PM me if you would like more specific details.

Attended a small wedding reception last night at Spiaggia. It was flawless, truly outstanding meal. We figure there were about 75 people there.
