To keep track of their dining experiences? I've heard some people keep some pretty extensive personal journals/diaries (offline and online) of where and what they eat and I wanted to see if anyone hear does something similar.

    HI,

Most of my restaurant experiences end up here.

    Regards,

My sentiments exactly. Anything I'm interested in recording my notes about is done here. I've got a full record of it all, plus other people's reactions.

I was going to keep a journal, then decided I wanted to add photos, and finally figured I might as well make a blog of it. After a year and a half, I'd keep it up even if I were the only one who ever laid eyes on it. I find myself referring back to it all the time to refresh my memory. I first visited Faidley's last January, then returned a couple of weeks ago. On this most recent visit, I thought to myself that I didn't remember the crabcakes being that good. I went back in the blog only to discover that they were, in fact, that good the first time around :-)

I do double-post a lot of stuff here because I like to contribute (and even if I didn't enjoy it, it would be only fair, given how much I've taken), but LTH is a little busy for me to use as a personal journal. Just personal preference. I come here to read others' thoughts... not to review mine.

I used to keep a database of places I visited in various cities other than Chicago on my PDA. A place had to be very good or very bad to get in the database. I didn't bother with middle of the road places, they seem to be easy to find anywhere. Once I discovered Chowhound and later when LTH Forum started, I quit keeping up my database and, as a result of equipment upgrades, etc. I don't even have a copy of it anymore.

I have my food blog (link below) which includes recipes I've made at home, food related events and restaurants I've visited. I also write up occassionally on Chicagofoodies.com.
