I don't think anyone has posted about this yet -- the Hellenic Museum in Greektown (
http://www.hellenicmuseum.org/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=36) now (through the end of September) features an exhibit about food and Greek culture. It's very nicely presented, lots of good visuals and artifacts, with much to say about the long history of Greeks in Chicago's food and restaurant industries (not included, though, was any reference to the John Belushi/Dan Ackroyd "Cheeseburger" skit -- considered derogatory, perhaps). It's a bit lacking, surprisingly, in providing information on actual Greek cooking -- there's a lot on diner food (including several menus and a diner booth, fully set) but not enough focus on the specific dishes, recipes, preparations, etc that define Greek cooking. It provides good general information, though, and makes for a nice starting point for discussions with your kids, for instance, about the immigrant experience and the role food played (and continues to play) in it. And of course after touring the museum (it's not that big; takes about an hour to go through) you'll most likely be hungry and so can top the experience off with a meal nearby (we went across the street to Santorini).
