    Hi,

Today, I was driving south on Halsted, just north of Division Avenue. I saw a building with a plastic banner sign, which read "Hecky's of Chicago." Promising ribs, chicken and ??? At quick glance, there wasn't any permanent signs on the front of building and not much remodeling going on yet.

So those who love Hecky's, you may find a Chicago outpost one of these days.

    Hi,

Hecky was on WLS radio this evening. The new location I noted is at 1234 North Halsted in Chicago is a franchise of Hecky's Evanston. According to Hecky, the place is up and running.

I am not a fan of Hecky's, so I will not be there. However, those who do go, then please provide us a report.

    Regards,

If you mean Leon's on Clark north of Fullerton, yes, it's been gone for years. But the south side places (59th and 79th Streets) are still there. They recently opened a new one at 2418 N. Ashland. I've had take-out twice and wasn't impressed. Neither the tips nor the ribs were as good as I remembered and I would not order them again (Fat Willies on Schubert is better). The fried chicken was OK, but there are better choices. In re Leon's, sic transit gloria mundi, I guess.

like most things, the memory is better than the reality.
