I'm going to try and make some candy this weekend, and I'm wondering where I can buy candy wrappers. I'm thinking of something like the cellophane type material that covers cinnamon and butterscotch discs (i.e. hard candy). I know I could probably get the cellophane used for Easter baskets at a place like Michael's, but is this stuff safe for wrapping candy, or should I be looking for something else? The candy will have obviously cooled completely by the time I wrap it; I just want to make sure there's nothing dangerous on the regular cellophane that could come off on my pastillas.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. BTW, a source close to Evanston/Skokie would be ideal.

I bought a bunch of these at the Wilton Tent Sale for when I make caramels. You might be able to find them at Michael's (there's one at Village Crossing).

i dont know about cellophane, but here is another (and cheaper) mail order source for brightly colored foil squares. it's NY Cake and Baking.
1-800-94-CAKE-9. 100 squares of foil for $2.99 (at least in the catalog i have, which is several years old!) justjoan

Just an update: I found candy wrappers at Michael's on Dempster in Niles. I think they were almost twice the price of the ones on wilton.com, but I just needed one package and shipping would have been more than triple the price of the wrappers. Thanks for the suggestions. I will also keep in mind NY Cake and Baking for my future candy-making adventures.
