Dennis Getto - Milwaukee Restaurant Critic dies

Post #1 - July 25th, 2007, 3:42 pmI know a lot of posters are from Milwaukee or enjoy the cuisine there - so this may be of interest since I'm sure you have heard or read his reviews in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
He seemed to be a Milwaukee icon much like Pat Bruno or Phil Vettel to Chicago.

Post #2 - July 26th, 2007, 5:16 pmWhat a pity, and so young. I encountered Getto's column right after I moved to Whitewater. I saw something I thought I could add to, and e-mailed him. He wrote right back, and we continued in correspondence for the rest of the two years I was in WWWI. An enormously generous and fair guy, who was quite clear about what he wanted. What a loss... you just can't hand the column to any old reporter and expect good results. Good luck Milwaukee!

Post #3 - July 27th, 2007, 5:46 amSad news. Growing up my parents always had the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal delivered to the house. I can remember more than a few times when we went out to eat at a new place one of my parents would say to the other "Dennis Getto said this place was good."
I feel like driving to Waukesha and eating the chile rellenos at Casa Del Rio in his honor.
