Does anyone know of a bookstore in the Chicago area that has a really good selection of food related magazines? I'm thinking of something else besides Food & Wine, Gourmet etc.

    Thanks!

The Chicago/Main newsstand in Evanston has a wide selection of all sorts of magazines, including a pretty deep collection of food and drink magazines.

It's just about right next to the Main street purple line stop. It's also fairly close to Cross-Rhodes, if you feel like a good burger.

Most Borders and Barnes and Nobles have large selections of food magazines. I'd start with the larger ones downtown.

I think Fox & Obel sells a few more than the most mainstream food magazines.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I really enjoy the Delcious magazine from Australia and am looking for similar magazines. Thanks again to everyone who responded!

Connected with the Chicago-Main stand is City Newsstand at Irving Park & Cicero, which is bigger and I think has the best selection in the entire area for magazines of all kinds. Never mind the weird guys standing in the corner with their hands in their pockets though.

I believe the Chicago Public Library (Main library -- Harold Washington Branch) has at least several major cooking magazines (Cook's Illustrated, Gourmet, Saveur, Fine Cooking) and possibly quite a few more. I know some of them circulate, but not sure if there's a cut-off (such as "most recent X issues do not circulate and are available in the magazine/reference room only"). Some of the collections go way back -- e.g., I think the library has holdings on Gourmet going back to the 50s.
