road trip to NYC

We're driving to NYC next week, leaving from Springfield. Our route will take us through Indianapolis and Columbus, up towards Akron, and then we'll be on I-80 through PA and NJ. Any interesting dining recommendations along the way would be deeply appreciated. Also, I've heard some good things about a tiny NYC restaurant called Prune on 1st Ave. Has anyone eaten there? Also any other NYC and Hudson River Valley recommendations would be welcome. One of our children lives in Manhattan, and another in Sleepy Hollow, so we're out there frequently. Thanks!

drop me a line about what you like and what your budget for food is and I'll happily throw in the two bits that a NY foodie has to offer. Time, money and inclination are waht shapes the entire NYC dining scene and there are a lot of overlooked gems hidden in the city but finding them isn't easy.
