Just got this email from Eric Larson at Marion Street Cheese Market

Customer Appreciation Event Announcement - Book Signing and an Artisanal Cheese and Wine Tasting This Friday, August 10 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm

We are honored to have several special guests in attendance this Friday.

Jeffrey Roberts, the author of the newly published "The Atlas of American Artisan Cheese", will be our special guest of honor. Jeffrey Roberts is a founder of the Vermont Institute for Artisan Cheese at the University of Vermont. He spoke last week at the American Cheese Society Annual Meeting and Competition in Burlington - and now we are very lucky to have Jeffrey coming to visit us in Oak Park.

In this excellent book about artisan cheese in the United States, Mr. Roberts profiles cheesemakers from 43 different states, with detailed information about the cheesemakers and beautiful photographs accompanying each profile. The New York Times wrote a wonderful review of the book on June 6, 2007 and stated in the review that "Each profile is filled with all the useful information that a cheese fiend would want to have." Jeffrey will be autographing copies of his book and discussing the tremendously exciting growth of the American artisan cheese world! And we have provided a coupon for $10.00 off the purchase of the book for individuals receiving this e-newsletter.

This book is perfect for your home library and would make an excellent gift for any foodie in your life.

We'll also be sampling out many of the cheeses from cheesemakers that Jeffrey profiles in his delightful book, so please stop by for some amazing American artisan cheese. This is a perfect opportunity to come in and check out the very finest cheeses that the United States has to offer.

Leslie Cooperband, our good friend and cheesemaker at Prairie Fruits Farm in Champaign, IL, will also be at this event on Friday evening sampling some of her amazing (and now award-winning) cheeses in person. (See below for more info on Prairie Fruits Farm and how they fared at this years cheese competition). Stop by to say hello (and congratulations) to Leslie - and sample some of her amazingly delicious cheese. You can also find Marion Street Cheese Market at the Oak Park Farmers Market every Saturday selling Leslie's cheese - and we always have a great assortment of her cheeses at our store.

And lastly, our good friend Todd Hess of H2Vino will be in the store sampling out a selection of fine wines. Todd is one of our very favorite wine vendors, combining an outstanding portfolio of wines with an amazing depth and breadth of wine knowledge. He is always a pleasure to speak with, and he would be happy to answer all your wine questions. Todd will be pouring several delicious wines that evening which will pair wonderfully with the cheeses we'll be serving.

This will be a tremendous Friday evening of great cheese and wine. It is free to all our friends and customers, and we do hope you will be able to attend.

We hope to see you Friday evening.
