Preview the New Chicago Food Documentary on Channel 11

Channel 11 has a new Chicago food documentary premiering this fall, “The Foods of Chicago: A Delicious History”. For a web preview, check out:

Dan, thanks for the heads-up. From the preview, I see several foods and places I know nothing about (e.g., Galaktobourikos, Delightful Pastries). It'd be great if you could post broadcast times when they're available.

I was at Honey 1 when they were taping that particular segment. If there's a pair of hands powering through a tips-n-links combo in the production, those would indeed be mine.

WIll this program be used as a WTTW 11 fundraiser? If yes, then advise maybe some of us could man the phones? At least it would have a complimentary foodie element.

I've done this before with another group I was active with (TV production related). It was lot's of fun, but the weak link was the vending machine caliber food they served for the volunteers in the cafeteria. I'd suggest that if we decide to do this, that a dinner component (it could be something we arrange to have catered at the station) is arranged as part of the deal.

The best galactobourikos in town can be had at Periyli. They were served as one of the desert selections at one of the first LTH outings. Delightful Pastries is owned by poster Cookie Monster. It truly is a great bakery for Eastern European pastries of all sorts as well as American standards. Her chocolate brownies are my current favorite bakery version.

I'm on her e-mail list. So far the pledge night opportunities have never coincided with food related interests. Now if this program does go on the pledge night programs, then we are so there!
