I'm taking the husband to New York this weekend to celebrate his birthday. I'm looking for a good place for a post-theater dinner. We're seeing the 8pm show of "Spring Awakening" on Saturday and would like a fantastic meal afterwards. We have reservations at Esca for Friday evening, so I'm guessing I'd want to stay away from Italian or seafood for Saturday's dinner. We are open to all kinds of cuisine except Indian, and money isn't too much of an issue, but I don't need to go top tier for this meal.

Suggestions? Thanks in advance! This is my first post to LTH, but I've been reading for months and months and months.

For your post-theater dinner, you might try DB Bistro Moderne (on 44th Street). I'm not sure when they close, perhaps at 11:00 p.m., but it is very good without being excessively expensive.

I ate at Esca last week, and it was good, but not great. For Italian I would recommend A Voce. Cafe Boulud just received three stars from Frank Bruni, and CB is known for its pasta. I found both better than Esca. (Note that both DB Bistro Moderne and Cafe Boulud are restaurants run by Uber Chef Daniel Boulud).

I recommend Eleven Madison Park to everyone, and have never had a complaint. $75 for their tasting menu.
