It's a beautiful day, I'm working at home, and I've got a hankerin' for eating fried oysters and hush puppies from the trunk of my car.

I'll be at Hagen's at noon if anyone would like to join me for a little dining al trunko.

    Best,
    Michael

    Michael,

I'm in the exact same situation. I'll see you there.

Even though we didn't get to eat off of a car trunk after all, it was good to see Mike, Steve and Josephine.

It was also good to see popcorn shrimp, and calamari (which, as Steve pointed out, had a little basil in the breading:

and the clam chowder (which some thought a bit on the thick side):

    Thanks to eatchicago for organizing.

    Thanks for coming!

I was glad that there was a shaded table available in front of the shop, in spite of how busy they were inside.

On a disappointing note, Hagen's has switched to canned, shucked oysters. They used to shuck their own and keep them in plastic tubs. The price is higher now, and the oysters weren't all that good--scrawny and not very flavorful. I should have ordered the perch.

I'm happy to report that the hush puppies remain the best around.

    Best,
    Michael
