I posted a little on Sweet Cakes in the Dodo thread here.

I went back this morning and got some really nice stuff which all seemed very reasonably priced (got out of there with 5 baked items for under $10-- try that at Pasticceria Natalina). I like Sweet Cakes a lot.

Did you happen to get one of those corn muffins with the egg inside? That's some good eats!

You know, being a very long way from a hardboiled egg fan (I can tolerate them, but that's about it), I haven't worked up the courage.

Had a banana muffin at Milk&Honey this afternoon that was really good.

After that, I wanted to try every other pastry they had and all the sandwiches, too, but that will have to wait till next time.

    Hello all,
We did a mini bakery tour yesterday. I had the egg at sweet cakes. very good but not really my thing, I am not a hard boiled egg fan. But the corn muffin around the egg was very good.
Then we had a pain au chocolat and some mini pies from lovely. The pain au chocolat was excellent. As close to france as I have had recently. nice technique, good interior layers, and good quality chocolate. A very well made croissant. The pies were also excellent. We tried 3 types, pecan, fresh peach cobbler, and almond apple. All the fruit fillings were fresh.
We all agreed that the pecan was the best, but the peach was also very good. We are trying the mini cupcakes from sweet cakes tonight for dessert. Also, both spaces are really nice. good for hanging out in and relaxing. I wish I lived closer, well...maybe it's good that I don't.
