Post #1 - August 29th, 2007, 9:03 pmNow before you yell about this being on the wrong board, let me tell you that the amount of prepared food at this place is unbelievable.
The BBQ station looked good, nice smoky brisket and pork. There's an asian/stir fry area that offers a wide range of asian food options, rice bowls, noodle bowls, etc. There's a shrimp bar with half a dozen types of cooked shrimp ready to carry out, at $10.99/pound. There's an antipasto bar that is much more extensive than the one in Deerfield. The prepared foods and salad bar...eh.
The fig/orange gelato was great...I'd go back for a treat in a heartbeat.
I seriously can see people meeting there for lunch like it's a restaurant. ANd it was absolutely mobbed.

Yes. I actually live closer to the one in DF but thought I'd check it out and it is gorgeous. Really worth the extra couple minutes' time.

Post #4 - August 29th, 2007, 9:19 pmI had the brisket and pulled pork there for lunch. Very tasty if the texture of the brisket wasn't perfect. It was a madhouse, people everywhere stuffing their faces with samples to an embarassing extent. I picked up some Humboldt Fog, some bruschetta topping, and a baguette and had a simple dinner.

If any meal that includes Humboldt Fog can be considered simple.

Post #9 - August 30th, 2007, 12:27 pmYes we went on opening day too. Too many people. We have been to most of them in Illinois this is the biggest and nicest. Exspecially like the more room in the isle's.
More products too for all of us. Saw from Kids eating what they want to retired people. Salad bar is $7.95 per pound get what you want.
One amazing place. So many families in a hurry no time to cook.
It will add to the area, I won't have to go to Deerfield to the other Whole Foods,
But: Don't discount Sunset Foods in Northbrook Tall Grass beef, plenty of organic foods, and a great deli, and great Key Lime pie, I know were everything is at and don't need the mega big store all the time.
If people have not been to the Northbrook Sunset worth the trip, the fish is always great too and the people so helpful.
